I have a job

Had an interview with the local council today, I start in the morning.
Working sorting out payment for carers.

University of Surrey

I spent 4 years at the University of Surrey 1995-1999 having a great time studying for my B.Eng, and making some good friends.

Today is the first time I have been back for nearly 5 years, it does not seem to have changed much.

Although the EIHMS building was there when I was, I had never been inside before - not having much call to enter the nursing department as an engineering undergrad - but I found it to be just as stylish and futuristic inside as out.

I have come here for an interview for my nursing applications, I think it went OK, but most useful of all I have found that there is not much difference between degree and diploma. I had already almost decided diploma was best for me - especially from a financial point of view - but the interview confirmed my choice!

Job Centre Farce

So I am looking for work.

I went in to use the job centre info booths, as their website does not work with OS X, and found a few jobs I am interested in, and I went to reception to, as the info booths advise, ask for further details. The receptionist told me, "We do not deal with jobs here" adding, "You need to go over there", pointing to another desk, with a queue.

Whilst waiting in the queue I received a phone call in reply to a job query - a more appropriate call to take in a job centre I cannot think of. A security guard asked me to leave.

I finished my call, and returned to my place in the queue, when it came to be my turn, I was asked if I was receiving benefits, when I answered, "no" I was informed that the job centre only gave help to those job seekers receiving benefit! So I was directed to a bank of telephones and so gave them a call.

It was all just so funny, being told that the job centre does not deal with jobs, being asked to leave when taking a phone call about jobs, and finally being told that staff do no deal with unemployed people who are not seeking money from the government.

I laughed.
